Our 40th Anniversary

Our 40th Anniversary

On the Labour Day weekend in September of 1976, Silvano & Anna Sabucco opened the doors of Sil’s Auto to serve the vehicle repair and maintenance needs of the Oakville and Mississauga community.  Since then, many things have changed. The business has grown, we’ve moved locations, Dad Silvano has retired and son Carlo now operates the business. Some things, however, remain the same.  Carlo still has a great team  and they are still serving this community. Whether a customer is new or has been with us since 1976, we always appreciate and thank them at every visit for their business and for their loyalty. As we celebrate our 40th year in business, we are giving back in a bigger way to the community by helping those of us who may need a little extra hand. With the support of a local organizations The Compass and Clear View Church in Mississauga and Oakville, we’ll be assisting two deserving families in the community.  Sil’s will provide our au ... read more

Up Date MOT Inspections

So we have completed several vehicle safety inspectons as per the new guielines and overall it's not bad. Takes a little longer to cover the additional tems and a longer documentation process.  One thing we have come across is the parking brake systems. They work but when you visually take things apart there's problems. So this is something that has to be watched for.  Here's a link our facebook page for a GM vehicle we just did. Parking brake seemed to hold in the parking lot when fully applied but upon inspection one side was missing the lining on the parking brake shoes.  http://www.facebook.com/sils.auto/ The important thing to remember is this is for your safety. The government is not making this a cash grab, they are ensuring that Repair facilities abide by new modern standards.  Hope this helps carlo sabucco

This blog comments on some of the changes and some of the issues regarding safety inspections. The changes allow for service facilities to "smarten up" and get with the new rules, clairfies inspection protcols and protects the consumer. That protection is called document, document , document! So what changes are coming. If youwant the actual PDF document here it is. http://www.aaro.ca/wp-content/uploads/Passenger-Light-Duty-VehicleInspection-Standard-October-2015.pdf Key areas of change: Improved documentation. New Professional Image for Sils Auto - Happy 40th Anniversary!

New Professional Image for Sils Auto - Happy 40th Anniversary!

The non dealer automotive service and repair industry has been known for having a non professional, dirty image. I have seen in the last several years those indepndents who have risen above the rest and truly belive and show they operate a professional, highly qualified facility.  I have always tried to be a leader in this sector, as some of my peers out there. Professional staff, tools, training and technology.  So our recent upgrades in our office will reflect that image we want to portray. Clean, professional and a facility that says we are the choice to bring your vehicle to.  Thank you to all our customers as my team and I work hard for you the paying customer.  Thank you to my loving wife who on her actual birthday day spent it with me removing and tearing down the office. It is a family business

Air Bag Light On - Don't Think it's Important - Check This Out.

Air Bag Light On - Don't Think it's Important - Check This Out.

So vehicle hit another car making a left hand turn in front of them at an intersection. Police officer comments were that if the air bag had not gone off driver would have had Major injuries. Drive walked away with lots of bruises. Notice the air bag ion passenger side. It uses the front windshield to deflect the bag into the body of the passenger. When people have cracked or damaged windshields on passnger side the possibility of t he air bag exiting the vehicle versus deflecting into the passenger is highly probable. As for Air bag lights being on. The Ministry of Transporation on a safety inspection says it's ok, I feel it's NOT!. Air bag repairs and lights being on need to be fixed, as they do save lives. carlo sabucco Sils Auto Repair Mississauga and Oakville
