The Economy and Vehicle Care

Maintaining your car in a recession is essential for your safety, your wallet, and the longevity of your vehicle. Regular maintenance, tire rotations, and safety inspections are necessary to ensure your car is operating safely and efficiently. Keeping up with necessary maintenance is one of the best ways to save money in the long run, as it will prevent you from having to buy a brand new car or make expensive repairs in the future. Additionally, regular maintenance is key to making sure your car is reliable and will last for years to come.   With the higher interest rates for vehicle financing, and the above average used car market pricing maintaining your car always pays off in the long run. I talk a lot about the vehicle care costs with customers and I have found over all my years in this business that service , maintenance and repairs always beats out financing a new vehicle in the long game. Nothing will beat the shiny, new car smell, new car peace of mind ( sometime ... read more

Let’s try and explain what is the purpose and benefit.   I’m going to keep this concise and in simple terms This was a great Bendix You Tube video explaining how brakes work if you want to watch it. Bendix is a long standing premium brake manufacturer. https://youtu.be/KJ0koDXk6PY Brake replacement is the actual removal and replacement of brake components.  Brake pad, brake rotor, brake caliper are the most common parts.  They can fail for a long list of reasons: Brake grinding, brake squealing, brake vibrations or brake shuddering when slow or fast driving, brake pulling to one side, and various brake noises are all brake failures for replacement or maintenance service. Blind Spots when driving

Blind spots may be a good thing when it comes to a spouse's annoying habits, but when driving an automobile in Oakville, they are definitely to be avoided. So, while it's not good marital advice, it's good auto advice to minimize your own blind spots and stay out of other Oakville drivers' blind spots, especially when it comes to large, heavy vehicles like trucks and buses. First, minimize your own blind spots. Do this before you pull out of the driveway or parking space. Adjust your rearview mirror so that you see as much of the area behind you as possible. And, no, this doesn't include the passengers in the back seat. The rearview mirror isn't designed to be a baby monitor. Next, lean to the side until your head almost touches the driver's side window. Now adjust the driver's side mirror so that it just catches the side of the vehicle. Then, lean to the middle of the car and adjust the passen ... read more

Up Date MOT Inspections

So we have completed several vehicle safety inspectons as per the new guielines and overall it's not bad. Takes a little longer to cover the additional tems and a longer documentation process.  One thing we have come across is the parking brake systems. They work but when you visually take things apart there's problems. So this is something that has to be watched for.  Here's a link our facebook page for a GM vehicle we just did. Parking brake seemed to hold in the parking lot when fully applied but upon inspection one side was missing the lining on the parking brake shoes.  http://www.facebook.com/sils.auto/ The important thing to remember is this is for your safety. The government is not making this a cash grab, they are ensuring that Repair facilities abide by new modern standards.  Hope this helps carlo sabucco

Air Bag Light On - Don't Think it's Important - Check This Out.

Air Bag Light On - Don't Think it's Important - Check This Out.

So vehicle hit another car making a left hand turn in front of them at an intersection. Police officer comments were that if the air bag had not gone off driver would have had Major injuries. Drive walked away with lots of bruises. Notice the air bag ion passenger side. It uses the front windshield to deflect the bag into the body of the passenger. When people have cracked or damaged windshields on passnger side the possibility of t he air bag exiting the vehicle versus deflecting into the passenger is highly probable. As for Air bag lights being on. The Ministry of Transporation on a safety inspection says it's ok, I feel it's NOT!. Air bag repairs and lights being on need to be fixed, as they do save lives. carlo sabucco Sils Auto Repair Mississauga and Oakville
